There is no charge to the camp. We appreciate the opportunity to service your parents and campers and earn our living filling prescriptions. We are not a broker, we are the pharmacy. No. You can choose to make it optional. Many camps choose to make our service mandatory so that they can ensure that the medication program is properly administered and precious time can be spent on emergent health issues not sorting thorough hundreds of medications during limited not a burden on camp staff. When medications are coming into the camp from many sources it becomes time consuming to sort out and mistakes can happen. We do offer programs and special pricing for camp parents when our service is mandatory. You may sign up online or by phone, fax, or mail. Just let us know your preference. We suggest that you inform the parents through your regular mailings and on your camp website. We will provide a link or button which can be added to your website so that parents can register on-line and learn more about our programs. Parents can order online or by phone, fax, or mail. If they prefer to order by fax or mail they can copy the Order Page and send it to us once they have completed it. If parents have any questions, they can call us toll free at 877-230-6030. GroupRx is always free to camps. Since we are the pharmacy, we do not charge parents a large registration fee. We earn our living by filling prescriptions not through registration fees. We charge a reasonable amount for shipping and handling. Remember, there is never a contract with our pharmacy. Normal and customary parent registration charges are $15.00 for each session up to 30 days and $25.00 for sessions longer then 31 days. From time to time we offer early registration programs to camps to reduce and in some case eliminate the registration fees.
Registration fees do not include medication costs, co-pays or deductibles. We provide our service free to all scholarship campers. No camper is ever left without medication. Provide us with a list and we will discuss each case individually with you and GroupRx management. We offer a wide variety of packaging materials for your campers, including blister packs, individualized dos packs, vials, etc. Our support team will work with you and your staff to determine the packaging most appropriate for your campers. Our most popular packaging is provided by Parata which is a machine that places each dose of medication to be packaged by date and time of dosing along with any other medications due to be administered at the same time of day. They are sealed in a medication strip package with a detailed label that includes the camper’s name, date of birth, medications enclosed, date and time to be administered and any special instructions. The strip is then rolled and placed in a small box (a few inches on each side) with a slot at the top. Your staff simply pulls out each dose, tears open the perforated packet, and hands the camper his medications. Inhalers, creams, and liquids are dispensed as usual and sent with the camper’s other medications. Please note that some pills cannot be packaged with other pills because they will decompose or cause a chemical reaction. Those medications are packaged and sent separately.
Yes and this saves your staff a lot of time! When parents register they provide us with detailed information regarding over the counter medications, including dose and time of administration. Our pharmacy will package them with any prescription medications dosed at the same time of day. Our pharmacy obtains outstanding volume discounts on OTC medications, so parents may enjoy significant savings on these items. Prescriptions or ‘Physician Authorization” (a note from the Doctor on letterhead) is required for us to package over the counter medication.
Yes. We package “as needed” prescription medications separately and send them labeled with directions for administration. Yes. They are included in separate, resealable packages marked for special dosing. We handle many injectables, such as growth hormones and insulin. It is really up to you and your staff to determine their qualifications to administer these medications safely. Absolutely, we provide our service to EVERYONE in the camp. Simply sign up and check off staff member on the registration form. Obviously, we cannot process insurance for staff who reside outside the United States. Please check with us about prescriptions written from Doctors located outside the United States. Yes. Our pharmacy is part of a group which has tremendous buying power. We have put together a list of usual and customary items stocked in infirmaries. Please let us know if you require any special items that don’t appear on the list. All items can be shipped within 24 hours from our pharmacy throughout the camp season. Please refer to our camp ‘wish-list.’ We ship the medications to arrive on the day you specify on your Camp Information Form (you fill this out online or we can send you a hard copy). Generally we recommend having the medications on site at the camp at least 5 days before the session begins. That depends on many things. If they order late and they still provide us with the necessary prescription and insurance information with enough time to make the scheduled shipment, we will typically waive the late fee. If a camper’s medications must be sent in a later shipment, however, we will charge the parent a $25.00 late fee and some or all of the late shipping costs. We will notify the parent as soon as we know the order cannot arrive by the first day of camp. In that case, we will advise them to send their child to camp with enough medication to last until our shipment arrives. We will also notify your camp health staff of the situation. No, because insurance rules require that we obtain and ship only one month’s supply of medication at a time. If a camper will need more than one month’s supply of medication, the doctor must write the prescription with refills. We will arrange to have the medications refilled and shipped to camp at the appropriate time. We can provide your infirmary with products for all of their needs. We will provide your medical staff with a list of items you might require and pass a long our group savings. In the past we have offered Tami-Flu and other prescription and non-prescription items to be stocked in the infirmary for our camp clients. Since we are the pharmacy we can offer your team programs tailored to your camp. Please call our camp support team at 877-230-6030 to discuss your requirements. Our packaging is portable, tear proof, and waterproof, making it ideal for overnights away from camp. Your staff can simply tear off the number of doses needed for each camper and tuck them in a backpack.
In addition, we offer overnight first-aid packs and kits so that you have the supplies you need when and where you need them. That’s up to you. We can provide several options to fit with your camp procedures. We offer an electronic log which your staff can log-in and update the administration online to provide an accurate and archival record. We can also provide more traditional medication logs and formats. Please have your medical staff discuss your camp requirements with our camp support team so that we can arrange for a method that works best for your camp. Accuracy and simplicity is the key to compliance for this important issue. Yes. We understand the importance of keeping parents informed at all stages of the process. In addition to our email acknowledgment of their order, parents receive another email when we ship their child’s medications to camp. Yes. We will email the contact person you have indicated to let them know a shipment is coming. At that time we will also let you know if there are any problems with medications. For example, if some parents ordered late and when their children’s medications will be shipped. We also provide for on-line reporting so that your team can find the information they require. Call us to discuss the reporting options available to your camp.
