-
How much does your service cost?
Our registration fee varies based on camp and length of session attended. Since we are pharmacy direct our registration are lower. We pass significant savings on to our GroupRx families.
-
What will my prescriptions cost me through the GoupRx program?
No different than your local pharmacy, insurance copays and/or deductibles are determined by your insurance carrier and prescription coverage. For the GroupRx camp program there is a general registration fee which includes shipping and handling for the camp season. The registration fee is determined by your camp and session choices and will not exceed $25.00 for the season. The registration fee does not include the cost of requested medications or insurance co-pays or deductibles.
-
How will I be charged?
Since we are pharmacy direct you will be billed only by our pharmacy. Upon registration you will be charged the one time annual registration fee. This fee does not include any charges for medications or any other OTC items you may request. The cost of medication with any co-pays and/or deductibles and OTC items not covered by your insurance will be billed to your credit card. These charges may appear on your credit card statement well after your child has begun camp and many times after your child returned home after the camp session concludes. We pride ourselves on holding all billing (except the registration fee) so we can try to process all insurance and not have you incur any additional co-pays or medication charges.
Please note that we will never delay delivery of your child’s medications or refills due to an open insurance claim. If we do not accept your insurance or we can’t process your claim due to inaccurate information or premature renewal; we reserve the right to charge your credit card for your child’s medication. Upon confirmation of approval by your insurance carrier we will credit your account accordingly. Please understand that we will apply our best efforts to have your medications properly processed through your insurance company.
-
Will you package my medication?
No. Due to pedigree laws, please do not forward medication to our pharmacy since we are unable to package products not sold through our pharmacy.
-
How are the medications packaged?
We offer many different packaging materials. Generally, camps utilize individual dose packaging. Each dose of medication is sealed in a medication strip package with a detailed label that includes your child's name, date of birth, medications enclosed, date and time to be administered, and any special instructions. The camp staff simply tears open the perforated packet and hands your child her medications. Please note that only medications in pill form can be included in the dose strip. Other medications, such as inhalers, creams, and liquids, are dispensed and labeled separately and shipped to camp with your child’s other medications.
-
Can you package over-the-counter (OTC) medications such as vitamins, Benadryl or Claritin?
Yes. However, please note that once any medication is removed from its original packaging and packed in another form it is considered a prescription and as such we require a specific prescription from your Doctor or a “Physician’s Authorization” (this is a note on Doctor’s letterhead) instructing our team by the Doctor. When you register you provide us with detailed information regarding over the counter medications, including dose and time of administration. Our pharmacy will package these with any prescription medications dosed at the same time of day. Since we are the pharmacy we can pass along our outstanding volume discounts on OTC medications, so you may enjoy significant savings on these items.
-
Can you package half a pill?
Generally yes if your child’s prescription is specifically written that way by the Physician. You must indicate this request when registering your child’s medication in our system so that we can determine whether the specific medication is ‘durable’ and permits for accurate splitting.
-
Can you package prescription medications my child only uses on an “as needed” (PRN) basis?
Yes. We package “as needed” prescription medications separately and send them labeled with directions for administration.
-
Can you package Epi-pens, inhalers, prescription creams, drops, and liquid medicines etc.?
Yes. They are included in separate, resealable packages marked for special dosing.
-
What about injectables?
We are a preferred provider of injectables such as insulin and growth hormones. We can provide you with these medications provided the camp medical staff is properly certified to administer these medications. Please check with your camp director to insure that they provide this level of care or call us at (877) 230-6030 since we keep an updated list. Some insurance carriers have restrictions on providers for these medications. Please call us to discuss your individual situation.
-
What if my child is prescribed a controlled medications such as Adderall or Concerta?
We must receive an ORIGINAL PRESCRIPTION for all controlled medications. We will accept a fax prescription to begin processing your order but we must receive the original prescription prior to shipping the medication. Prescriptions for controlled drugs will only be accepted for a thirty day supply. If your child is attending an a camp for a longer period, the Doctor MUST supply a separate prescription for each 30 day period. Specific instructions for your Doctor can be printed out to simplify this process by clicking {here}. Please provide these prescriptions as soon as possible to avoid late fees and additional shipping charges.
-
Can you supply vitamins and supplements?
Yes. We offer a large assortment of vitamins and nutritional supplements. Please indicate your preferences when registering your child and we will notify you of any availability issues. If you would prefer to have these items packaged together with your child's other medications please provide us with either a prescription from the Doctor or a “Physician's Authorization” (note from Doctor on letterhead). For more information about vitamins and supplements, please follow the link from the Parents home page to the FAQ section on the Vitamins & Supplements page.
-
Will your pharmacy dispense name brands or generics?
Unless the physician specifies “Do Not Substitute” or “Brand Only” our pharmacy will dispense the generic. Many insurance plans will only pay for a generic. If you do not want a generic, we ask that you notify your physician in advance. For OTC medications, our pharmacy will provide generics unless you specify otherwise. In the latter case our pharmacy will attempt to provide the brand of medication you request but may have to substitute a generic if the name brand is not available.
-
What if my child is at camp for longer than a month?
The physician can write most prescriptions with refills. For controlled substances, however, an additional 30-day prescription will be required. We have created a downloadable letter that explains the process to physicians (please follow the link from the Medication Order page). Please make sure that you provide your physician with the downloaded letter so that she will follow the specific pharmacy rules and regulations for New Jersey. Prescriptions not written according to New Jersey pharmacy laws will be returned and your child’s prescription will be delayed until popper prescriptions are received by us.
-
What happens to extra medications if my child is at camp for less than 30 days?
Any unused medications will be returned to you on the last day of camp. You may use the extra medication at home, on vacation, or even at another camp.
-
My child’s refill date is part way through camp. How do you handle that? **************
Helpful Hints and Tips about pre-fill and post fill which will insure continuous insurance coverage.__________________________________________________________________________
-
I need to fill a prescription for my child before camp begins. What do I do?
Go ahead and have the prescription filled, but be sure to request only the amount of medication your child will need before camp begins. Our pharmacy will not bill your insurance company until camp begins to avoid a conflict with your insurance company’s billing cycle.
-
We have a ninety-day prescription plan. Can I still use GroupRx?
Generally you can. Because we can only dispense a 30-day supply of medication at a time, however, you must do the following: count the number of days your child will need medication at home before camp begins and request that number of days to be filled for home use; then contact your insurance company to notify them that you need medication dispensed by our pharmacy and request a”summer/vacation” override. YOU MUST NOTIFY THE PHARMACY IN ADVANCE ABOUT 90 DAY/MAIL ORDER PRESCRIPTION PLANS SO THAT WE CAN WORK YOU DIRECTLY ON THIS MOST IMPORTANT MATTER SO WE CAN ASSIST YOU IN AVOIDING CASH PAYMENTS.
-
What happens if my insurance company will not provide a vacation override or if I have used my allowable vacation overrides?
Give us a call so we can determine the appropriate plan of action.
-
What if there are medication questions or problems while my child is at camp?
We maintain a 24-hour toll-free hotline for parents and camps. Our pharmacist team is on call 24/7 throughout the year.
-
What time are medications dispensed at camp?
Medications are generally dispensed at meal times and bedtime. Please make certain that your doctor indicates the time(s) each medication should be taken on the prescription as well as your Medication Request Form so that the camp can accommodate special requests. If a prescription is written “one pill per day” it will always be dispensed at breakfast unless otherwise indicated. Helpful Hints: Please make sure that your health care provider writes your child’s prescription correctly. For example a medication ‘by protocol’ may be suggested for a PM dosage but if your child, due to circumstances takes that medication in the AM it is imperative that the prescription reflects this adjusted time. Please not that prescriptions will be filled as written.
-
My child takes a different dose of the same medication every other day. Can it be packaged that way?
Yes. It is critical that your Doctor provides a prescription written exactly how the medications should be given. Our pharmacists can only label a prescription according to the exact instructions of the Doctor and the camp will dispense the medication accordingly.
-
How much lead time do you need to ship the medications?
We require fourteen days from the date we receive your child’s medication information and written prescription until the start of his or her camp session. In an emergency, we can ship much faster, but there may be additional late and/or shipping charges involved depending on the circumstances. Please note that your child’s medications may not arrive at camp on time if you do not meet our deadline.
-
How do I know the date by which I have to provide you with prescription and insurance information?
That date depends on when your child’s camp has asked us to ship the medications. When you place your order we will send you an email acknowledgment reminding you of the documents we need and stating the date when we need them. In order to eliminate late fees please abide by the dates provided by us and the camp.
-
What happens if I order late?
That depends on many things. If you order late and still provide us with the necessary prescription and insurance information with enough time to make the scheduled shipment, we will typically waive the late fee. If your child’s medications must be sent in a later shipment, however, we will charge you a $25 late fee and some or all of the late shipping costs (depending on whether we are able to include your child’s medications in another shipment) and you will be required to send a ten day supply to camp as back up.
-
How will my doctor know how to write the prescriptions?
You can download a letter via the Medication Order Page that provides complete instructions to your child’s doctor.
-
Do you need the original prescription?
Only for Schedule II medications. For other prescription medications your child’s physician can fax or email the prescription directly to our pharmacy. Please see the previous questions and answer regarding a letter you can download for your child’s doctor.
-
What if my child’s doctor writes a prescription for a new medication after your deadline for registering has passed?
We will work with you to handle late medication changes. You may be required to send additional medications to camp as a back up and additional shipping charges may be applied.
-
Do you participate with my insurance?
Our pharmacy has contracted with all major and most minor prescription carriers to meet your needs. If your insurer will not provide reimbursement for medications ordered through GroupRx we will notify your child’s camp and advise them to allow you to opt out of our program. If you choose to still use GroupRx we can provide you an itemized receipt which you can then submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. You can also choose to pay cash for your child’s medications.
-
How is my insurance billed? How am I billed for co-pays?
Our pharmacy bills your insurance company directly as prescriptions are filled. Co-pays, deductibles, and the cost of over-the-counter medications and uncovered medications are charged to your credit card.
-
Will you notify me when my child’s medications are prepared and shipped?
Yes. We understand the importance of keeping you informed at all stages of the process. You will receive notification of our shipment process.
-
Can you continue to provide me with prepackaged medications for my child after camp is over?
Yes! Many of our camp families enjoy our service year-round. We ship medications directly to your home, to your child away at school or for any member of your family who can benefit from specially designed dose packaging. The cost is $3.95 per month for regular shipping and handling .
